What is UC?
Ulcerative colitis is a chronic illness, a form of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that only affects the colon. They do not know what causes it so there is no cure. (No, I do not consider removal of the colon a cure!) All they can do is treat the symptoms.
How it affects me
Every part of my life is influenced by UC one way or another. Diagnosed some 7 years ago it still hurts and scares me on a regular basis. I generally do not feel safe without a dedicated toilette nearby. For a long time I didn’t want my condition to define my online presence so I did not share anything colitis related with the public. I decided to change that practice in the hope that sharing data and experiences will be helpful, insightful or otherwise beneficial to anyone from visitors of my site to people with a similar condition or even researchers trying to understand UC.
